Injury and Waiting

If I had to run the Ironman today, I couldn’t. I wouldn’t even be DNF (did not finish); instead I’d be DNS (did not start).

Yesterday morning, I strained my lower back muscles in the most ignominious manner possible: getting off the can.

Yesterday I couldn’t straighten up. Today I’m a bit better, but still hobbling. Hopefully tomorrow and the following days will see improvement until I can conceivably compete in this race.

So now I wait. Wait to heal enough to race or wait to not heal enough to race. I expect I won’t know one way or another until Friday.
