Barak vs. Hillary

I confess that I was looking at the Texas primary from an extremely shallow point of view. My thought was, “Which would Texas Dems want least in the White House? A Black, or a Woman?” I figured that they would prefer a black man over a woman of any stripe, but obviously I was wrong.

Or maybe, they actually looked at the issues and picked the candidate they thought would represent them best.

Nah. That’s way too democratic.

Don’t forget Texas has a history for voting for women– Ann Richards, Margie Elizabeth Neal, Kay Bailey, Amanda Ferguson, and more. The women much be strong and they much be all Texas “woman” (the hair, makeup and so on), but they can be elected. I actually guessed they would prefer a woman over someone of color, based on some of the racist comments we heard in Lubbock (of course most of those were anti-Mexican and not anti-black, but the comments were racist).

I live in Texas and I can guarantee you that this election was not based on gender or race. For both states, Texas and Ohio, economy was the biggest priority. This election was based on trust. People did not trust Obama. And that is not counting that overexposure can have a damaging effect. There were wayyyyyyyy too many ads for Obama. You couldn’t see TV or hear the radio without Obama. And when you added the phone calls of volunteers calling at all hours, begging for Obama votes, people can get upset. It certainly did to me. I finally stopped answering the phone.

Argh! You guys are defeating my goal of being shallow and superficial when it comes to the Democratic Primary race! Making me think is so unamerican. Why do you hate me?

I need to go watch more Colbert.
