I’m listening to this recorded call about a humongously amazingly moronic customer service nightmare. Apparently, up until last month, Verizon did not recognize the difference between $0.002 and 0.002¢.
You must listen to this and be amazed. These people are out there and doing your taxes. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Thanks to bmenyuk on Livejournal for showing this to me
Wow… that’s very funny and very disturbing at the same time. I feel bad for this guy. I love how they keep multiplying by .002 cents and then saying it’s 75 dollars… if you just multiplied by cents how can you say the result is in dollars? What a bunch of maroons!
Bill, I don’t know you. But I know Tom. And as a statistician this audio feed hurts me to the depth of my soul. I’m crying. CRYING.
Personally, I was amazed at how patient the dude was with the various CSR’s. I would have been a lot more irate.
See, I would’ve had that patience too, but only because it is my chosen field. But I would’ve also made sure this person’s supervisor, and supervisor’s supervisor, were made aware of their dangerously incompetent mathematical skills.
